Sinusitis/Rhinitis/Other Nasal Problems

Rhinitis is irritation and inflammation of the mucous membrane inside the nose. Common symptoms of rhinitis are a stuffy nose, runny nose, and post-nasal drip. The most common kind of rhinitis is allergic rhinitis, which is usually triggered by airborne allergens such as pollen and dander.

Allergic rhinitis may cause additional symptoms, such as sneezing and nasal itching, coughing, headache, fatigue, malaise, and cognitive impairment. The allergens may also affect the eyes, causing watery, reddened, or itchy eyes and puffiness around the eyes. Rhinitis is very common. Allergic rhinitis is more common in some countries than others; in the United States, about 10-30% of adults are affected annually.

In rhinitis, the inflammation of the mucous membrane is caused by viruses, bacteria, irritants or allergens.

The inflammation results in the generation of large amounts of mucus, commonly producing a runny nose, as well as a stuffy nose and post-nasal drip. In the case of allergic rhinitis, the inflammation is caused by the degranulation of mast cells in the nose. When mast cells degranulate, they release histamine and other chemicals, starting an inflammatory process that can cause symptoms outside the nose, such as fatigue and malaise.

In the case of infectious rhinitis, it may occasionally lead to pneumonia, either viral pneumonia or bacterial pneumonia. Rhinitis is stated that it derives from allergies. "Principals and Practice of Eastern Medicine" and along with other studies state that rhinitis is Colorimetric, Acetabula, Powder. These three symptoms describe the characteristics of rhinitis. In Oriental Medicine studies, many nasal sicknesses derive from failure of lung capability, breathing ability, and lack of coolness. Also, organs involved in the illness include nasal, throat, bronchitis, lung and skin. If we include skin as one of the reasons behind nasal sickness, we can conclude that large intestines have similar functions as our lungs. The similarities among these organs are that they feed off of oxygen and food taken in directly from outside our bodies. Our bodies are built to intake anything to fulfill out insides. When we intake the bad environment into our bodies, it is natural to build up certain illnesses such as nasal sickness.

Eastern Medicine and Western Medicine have different defining lines for failure in lung capability. Different from Western Medicine, Eastern Medicine considers lung capability to further extent than just breathing. Breathing is a management process of bringing in the energy from the outside and brining it in. If lung fails to do such, our bodies cannot function well. Due to the failure of the management process, many patients catch a cold, rhinitis, asthma, and atopic dermatitis. Nasal inflammation caused by allergies is the most common sickness and usually leads to infection. Symptoms include coughing, snot, itchiness and nasal blockage. If the symptoms get worse, ability to smell decreases, itchiness in eyes and nose, nausea, and drowsiness. In worst case, snot has some discoloration and constant cough. Inside of the nose is called the nasal cavity and is divided into two sides. Around the nose are four small holes and is easily prone to infections. Those with rhinitis are prone to have connective infection also. Infections that are stuck in one of the holes are prone to connect to our ear to cause a bigger infection.

In America, one of the most common illnesses involves nasal function: dry weather and allergies to animals, flowers, and fungus. Those with weak lungs and/or with high stress level are easy to have nasal problem. If nasal sickness advances, sinusitis systems follow. Sinusitis is when pus remains in the nasal cavity, which leads to yellow snot discharge. The snot build up sometimes causes a patient to show symptoms of migraine and have difficulty living a comfortable lifestyle. Other causes of nasal sickness include, inflammation, allergy and asthma.

Advanced nasal inflammation and sinusitis often leads to difficulty in breathing, memory loss, difficulty to concentrate, or blockage in growth spurt. There are many foods that we intake that contains toxic antigen without us knowing. It is hard to admit, but this is true in our daily lives. In order to decrease the chance of over reaction from mutant system, a treatment plan of antihistamine is needed. However, antihistamine has side effects such as weakening of our body and drowsiness.

This treatment plan releases the pain temporary not for a long period of time.  Treatment plan for Nose problems consists of crushed and powdered dried flower bud combined with 30+ herbal medicines.

The treatment plan is :

you first tip a cotton ball into the syrup and put the ball into your nostrils. As the syrup soaks into the insides of your nose, the snot removal begins. There will be a continuation of snot coming out therefore head must be tilted downward and apply ointment after to make sure the nose is not too dry from removing the snot.

This treatment must be repeated about 10 times and those with severe nasal blockage need about 20-30 times. I went to see Dr. Kim based upon the positive reviews that I saw on Yelp.  I was having a terrible time with hot flashes at night that had completely disrupted my sleep and had read that acupuncture could really help.  I decided to give it a try (really not expecting much) before I considered HRT and was able to get an appointment the very next day.  Dr. Kim was so nice and explained to me that I was out of balance and acupuncture could help me with my issues.  He also recommended treating me for my sinus issues which I wasn't even considering when I made the appointment, but I am so glad he recommended treating me for that as well.  My hot flashes have completely disappeared and I feel like I sleep much deeper since starting the treatments.  And my sinuses feel great.  I have not had any headaches and have not needed to take any decongestants, which was an almost weekly occurrence for me.
The added benefit is that I feel so relaxed after my treatments.  It's seems almost meditative to me. Based upon my personal response to the treatments, I highly recommend  Dr. Kim.
